Gliders in Eagleville

When John was a kid, he spent a lot of time in Michigan with his grandma and grandpa. Each morning his grandfather would leave for the office, and John would anxiously await his return in the afternoon because that's when their adventures would begin. Fishing and flying were the two activities that I've heard John speak of the most.

John spent a lot of time in a glider plane with his granddad. In fact, he was only a few hours short of having his own pilot's license. Recently, John learned that there is an airfield in Eagleville with a gliders club. He's been trying to get us down there to check it out for awhile now. Today was a beautiful day, so after the boys' naps we headed down to Eagleville to check it out. It turned out to be an absolute blast. Jack, who is airplane crazy, was giddy with excitement.

We got to see this glider, pulled by a tow plane, take off. It really was beautiful.

The tow plane returned shortly after take-off without the glider. The pilot was nice enough to let Jack sit in his airplane. Jack got a kick out of that.

This afternoon certainly rekindled John's interest in gliders and flying. I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to get back in the pilot's seat himself before too long. In the meantime, he ran off to Walgreens tonight to pick up some pictures of our day to send to his grandpa. Won't his granddad be tickled!
