We most certainly are, Harper. Blackberry farmers. And jam makers, too.

Father's Day 2014
John and I got the rare treat of a walk in Olde Towne, Portsmouth and lunch without children on Father's Day. Olde Towne was so beautiful that we wanted Grandma to see it, so we went back that evening for another stroll.

Jamestown
We took Grandma to see Jamestown yesterday. Jamestown was the first English settlement, dating back to 1607. It's a pretty neat site because the preservationists have set up replicas of the Powhatan Indian homes, the three ships the English sailed across the Atlantic (Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery), and the fort and village the English built. The kids played games the Powhatan children played, tried on English armor, and tried living like Powhatan Indians, English sailors, and English settlers. It was so much fun that the children were disappointed when 5:00 rolled around and the museum was ready to close.

Biking With Grandpa
The boys enjoyed a bike ride with Grandpa while he was here. Showing Grandpa that he could ride a pedal bike was most of Luke's incentive to start riding.

Sandbridge Beach
Jane's cousin invited Jane and Marion out to attend her son's high school graduation party. They have a beach house on Sandbridge Beach that she let all of her relatives use. Once all the other relatives left, we got to join Jane and Marion for a beach vacation. The boys had a good time playing in the surf and sand, fulfilling lifeguard duties as Anything Guys, collecting shells with Grandma, and boogie boarding with Grandpa. We ate seafood at Margie and Ray's on Monday night before Grandpa had to leave to attend a conference. Now we get to enjoy some Grandma time. As I saw on lots of hats and t-shirts over the last few days, Life Is Good.

Luke Rides!
Luke is perfectly happy to ride his Strider, but alas the seat cannot be raised any higher so it is time for him to switch to a pedal bike. Quite honestly, he isn't interested in this milestone. But, today he took off on the pedal bike very easily. It still isn't his favorite mode of transportation, but we are one step closer to making the transition.
