Some Funnies

Like all children, the boys are funny without meaning to be on a daily basis. Every once in awhile, they say something that cracks John and I up enough that I jot it down. A few of those lately have been:

• When we were in Tennessee for Annie's wedding, we spent a couple of days at Grandma and Grandpa's house before moving on to Minnesota. Grandma had all the ingredients for ice cream sundaes one night after dinner. I offered to make the boys their treats and headed to the kitchen to do so. Before I could even get started, Jack yelled, "Where's my sundae?" I wasn't too impressed with his ill manners and told him so. He turned to John and said, "Sorry about yelling at your wife, Dad." Hahaha!

• Over the weekend, we were in the car, and the boys were hungry. We stopped and got them each a corndog at Sonic. Luke has a deep appreciation for hotdogs, but I don't think he had ever had a corndog before. Upon biting into it, he said in the most wonderstruck way, "There's a hotdog in there, Jack!"

• Jack was praying over our dinner. "Come, Lord Jesus, be our guest and let this food to us be blessed. Amen." And then Luke said, "The end." 

• And then, of course, there is the sweet way Luke says, "That's not right," about anything that isn't quite right or how his favorite thing to say to me right now when he is naked is, "I'm going to pee on you!" 

English Major

Jack, on hearing the news that Grandma is coming for a visit said, "I'm more excited than a frog waiting for a fly." I'm becoming more and more certain that he is going to be an English major.

From Blackberry Farm, we got to spend a few days with Grandpa and Grandma, and we got to visit Linda and Winston, too. Then the boys and I drove to Kathy, Kevin, Jake, and Megan's house. The Johnson farm has its own set of treasures; puppies, chickens, bike riding, fishing, camping, 4 wheelers, playgrounds, guitars, cuddles, and laughter. Farmer Ike took us on another tour of his family's elk farm. The boys loved helping Ike feed the elk. When I asked Jack and Luke what they enjoyed the most at the Johnson's, the boys went through several favorites before Jack finally told me that he doesn't like picking favorites because he loved it all. May he keep that attitude always.

No puppies were injured in the making of this video, but I'm guessing they don't miss my boys a whole lot!

July

July was a very good month for our family. We got to celebrate Annie's marriage to Shane at a place that John and I have wanted to visit for years, Blackberry Farm. The wedding was gorgeous, and Annie was breathtaking. The entire experience was wonderful; the adventure activities, the food, the family, the babysitter :-), the scenery. I cannot gush enough.
