Just A Couple Of Pictures

Jack watching tv with his kitty cat.

Luke is VERY excited about this monster truck shirt. I should have bought more than one because he may never let me wash it.

Circus

When we woke up this morning, we didn't have anything to do. By 9:30, John had us in the car and headed to the circus! We had a great time. Seeing elephants, tigers, dogs, acrobats, a man walking with stilts, and a girl being shot out of a cannon left quite an impression on both boys and me since this was my first time at the circus too.

Backyard Visitor

Anything out of the ordinary makes for an extraordinary experience. The boys and I had an extraordinary visitor today. We went outside to play for a bit before lunch when I saw something move out of the corner of my eye. It was this really cool turtle.

We watched the turtle make his way from the back of our yard and opened the fence gate to let him out about 20 minutes later when it seemed like that's where he wanted to go. Jack was right up next to him the entire time, peppering me with questions about turtles.

Luke was much more cautious, spending a good amount of time watching from the safety of the climber. Nonetheless, it was obvious that both boys thought watching that turtle cross our yard was fascinating.

I took this picture the other day. John stopped the car and the boys watched these geese and goslings along the banks of a pond close to our house. Spring has nature coming alive in these parts. I can only hope for my Minnesota family's sake that spring takes over there too.

He'll have no trouble convincing Lucy he has superpowers when he comes offering puppy treats.

Pictures For Kathy

Not too long ago, Megan texted me that her mom needed some new pictures of the boys for her house. Today I armed myself with jelly beans and got a pretty good picture of each boy. If anyone else wants a copy, leave a comment or text me and I'll send one your way too. My next goal is to get a decent picture of them together.

Reality Check

For a moment yesterday, John and I were convinced that we could be the "let's go out to a decent restaurant couple" that we once were. You know the time, back in 2009 before Chick-fil-a became the nicest restaurant we could comfortably dine in. It took us about 45 seconds before we both knew we had made a terrible mistake.

You see, instead of being a "let's go out to a decent restaurant couple", we are now parents of playground loving, hotdog and macaroni and cheese eating, nature exploring boys. Of course there are times we miss being the "let's go out to a decent restaurant couple" we once were, but who can miss being that for long when our boys have so much more to offer?

They're Here!

Several weeks ago, John and I took the boys to a hobby store. We left with an ant farm. This isn't totally shocking since we've been talking about getting a fish tank or something of the sort for Jack's room. When John saw the ant farm, he suggested that instead. I sent off for the ants as soon as we got home, and we have waited, and waited, and waited until the forecast was right for getting ants in the mail. Thankfully, today was the day. I have two pretty excited boys. Jack hasn't left his spot at the table in the past hour, and his eyes have barely left the ant farm with the exception of when he ran to his toyroom to get his camera to document the ants working. It's a pretty exciting day around here.
