CHKD Scarecrow

CHKD, the local children's hospital, had a fundraiser this morning that we really enjoyed. We built a scarecrow to decorate our yard for the fall. It was probably the best fundraisers I have ever attended, and there was quite a turnout.

Botanical Gardens

What a wonderful week we've had with Grandma! Between preschool and swimming lessons, it has been a quick week that we are sad to see coming to an end. Our last hurrah was a trip to Norfolk Botanical Gardens, a place we love that we knew Grandma would love, too.

Jack's already asked Grandma is she will come back not tomorrow or the next day but the day after that. I'm with him on this one. Not only did she pack an extra suitcase so she could bring the boys presents, but she also told me to go take a nap yesterday afternoon. It was AMAZING! We all know how lucky we are to have this special woman in our lives.

Grandma Is Here!

Grandma must feel like she has been in the trenches with me today. We dropped Jack off at preschool, went to the grocery store, watched Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, picked Jack up, went for a picnic, took Jack to swimming lessons, made dinner, took baths.... Oofda! But, it sure was fun.

That's MY Lucy!

Luke and Lucy are good buddies. They like to watch Daniel Tiger together before lunch. Luke has even started telling me, "That's MY Lucy!" anytime I try to pet her. He obviously doesn't want her affections to stray.

Jack's First Day of Preschool

Today was Jack's first day of preschool. He headed into his classroom with excitement and had a great time. Right after he told me that he was so busy he didn't even remember me, he told me he was hungry and even admitted that he was tired. It's hard to believe he's in school. There's definitely a lot about our lives that changed all of the sudden. We have entered the school years.

He wanted a picture of his school shoes and his lunchbox.

The gift he took to his teacher.

BMXers

So far, we have made the most of our Labor Day weekend. Having one extra day with John is big fun although Jack has already said that he isn't going anywhere until after the all new Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood episode tomorrow morning. Ha!

On Friday, we went to a bike shop in Richmond that John has been wanting to visit. It was in a really neat area of Richmond called Carytown that was fun to explore. We had awesome gyros and a great afternoon with the boys.

We wanted to be active today, so we took the boys to a BMX track that is near our house. It is amazing to see those boys, who are still so little in their mother's eyes, zooming through the course.
