Jack's Wax Museum Project

Jack has been really excited about his Wright Brothers school project. Today I went and visited the wax museum. I heard the stories of lots of famous Americans. The kids were all very excited about this project.

Luke and Winston

Luke has always been our animal lover. He can't pass a dog in the neighborhood without asking its owner if he can pet it. He has kitty cats he likes to take a walk just to visit. There's a dog named Maggie in the neighborhood who we walk down to see just so he can toss her the ball a few times. And then there's Winston who gets Luke's second hug every morning. I still get the first! Luke and I have been retraining Winston to fetch the newspaper this week. Luke's delight every time Winston brings the paper back is heartwarming. May he always know the value of the love of a good dog.

Jack's Birthday Party

We had Jack's birthday party on Saturday afternoon. It was so much fun to see him enjoy his time with his buddies. Thanks to Grandpa, Grandma, and Aunt Annie for making the trip out to share the day with him. If you click on Jack's 7th Birthday Party in the top left corner, the video will enlarge so it isn't cut off. I don't know why it does that. Irritating....

Jack is SEVEN

Jack turned SEVEN yesterday. What's that saying? The days are long, but the years are short. I don't even think the days are long anymore, but the years are especially short. Here's a bit about Jack at 7:

Favorite Movie- Star Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens. He has seen it 3 times in the theater. They even convinced me to go. I actually loved it.

Favorite TV Show- Clone Wars or Wild Kratts

Favorite Book- Star Wars books

Favorite Song- Yoda by Weird Al (Do you see a theme?)

Favorite Animal- Duck billed platypus because it's the only mammal that lays eggs

Favorite Toy- PlayStation

Favorite Unplugged Toy- Legos

Favorite Food- Pizza from Little Caesars

Favorite Restaurant- Subway

Favorite Thing Mom Cooks- "Hard Question. I like a lot. Chicken on the bone." Bless his sweet heart.

Favorite Color- Blue

Favorite Outside Activity- Playing in the Snow or Campfires

Favorite Part of the School Day- Teacher Led Instruction (I guess this is like the lecture part of the day or a minilesson. He said it's when the kids can't talk, they just listen and learn about something new.)

Future Job Plan- Doctor for Young Kids (Pediatrician)

Happy birthday to my absolute favorite 7 year old in the world. We love you, Jack!

Christmas 2015 and Happy New Year

The Seaton Christmas moved to Greenville this year. With the unpredictable weather in the Nashville area, it was good no one had to travel through the mess. All of us were completely spoiled by Santa and our family. But best of all, we enjoyed being together.

I got quite a kick watching Jack and Luke soak up Christmas. They were so excited by all of it. The presents, the trees, the lights, the holiday desserts... but I do think that this year they both went a little deeper than the surface of Christmas. They both found joy in spending time with the people they love, whether in person or virtually. And both boys had at least a couple of presents they were very excited to give, particularly the ones they made in school and the ones they chose for each other.

As 2015 comes to a close, I must count my blessings. And this year it was all about family. Family during joy, Megan and Jake's weddings in particular, and family during hardship, when our family rushed in to help us when I had my gallbladder issues this year and supporting each other through the unfairness of cancer. I don't know if it is because I am getting older or if it is just because this is a year when it was highlighted for me, but I feel incredibly lucky to have the people I have in my life. Thank you to all of you for enriching and sweetening my life. Happy New Year!
