I thought I was a dog person, but then I met Obi and now I think I might be equal parts dog and cat person. He is just the sweetest little kitty. Sweet and sleepy!

End of the Year Programs

It's that time of year that is the busiest for parents. The kids have so many fun things going on, and I don't want to miss a single thing. Luke's preschool graduation was the sweetest thing ever. There was so much I wanted to record that I filled up my memory card and missed half the last song and the last poem recitation. Luke sang his little heart out. You'll probably be able to hear his voice apart from the other children. He gets his talent from his mom obviously! (Note: The videos are larger than what the blog is able to display. If you click on the video, you'll be able to see more. This is especially important on the last video because Jack is on the far right side.)

Yesterday Luke and I went to Jack's 1st grade program. At Jack's school, each class picks something they learned about during the year and the kids (under the teacher's guidance) come up with a way to perform and explain what they learned. Jack's class chose to try to recreate their wax museum. All of the classes did such a great job. They learned about the life cycle of a plant, governments, outer space, taking care of the planet and so much more. It was pretty incredible.

Both boys have had amazing school years. Their teachers are incredible women. It's been a pleasure to watch them learn and grow.

Ms. Carol

This is Ms. Carol, Luke's preschool teacher and one of Luke's very favorite people. I'll always remember Ms. Carol's love for Luke. She summed that love up one day when she said to Luke, "Luke, you make my heart happy."

Home Is Wherever I'm With You...

Three years ago, John asked me if I would be willing to help him in his career by moving around the country for eight or nine years. It was a difficult decision because I loved living in Tennessee. The boys' grandparents, John's sister and brother, and my sister were there. My good friends were there. If I wanted to go back to work, my career was there. But in the end, I decided that I wanted to support John. So, it was off to Atlanta, and then a few months later it was off to Virginia, and then a year and a half later it was off to Greenville, South Carolina. I can honestly say I have loved my life in every single place. In Atlanta, it was the cul de sac that I loved. In Virginia, it was our friendship with Charissa and her family that I loved. In Greenville the list is long. I love our neighborhood. I love my house. I love the kids' schools. I love my friends. But, three years ago I committed to forwarding John's career. And so, we are off to Atlanta again very soon. The kids will finish their school year here and then sometime this summer we will be moving. And I will find an entirely new set of things to love about my life there. I love the song by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros called "Home". Because home really is wherever we are together.
