Jack is SIX!

Jack turned six years old today. We celebrated his birthday over the weekend with his grandparents, Annie, Shane, and three friends from the neighborhood. It was a LEGO party since LEGOs are definitely Jack's favorite thing in the world. Other favorites:

TV Show- Wild Kratts
Movie- Toy Story 2
Toy- LEGOs (Star Wars Microfighters)
Outside- Bicycle
Animal- Honey Badger
Future Job- Paleontologist
Book- Duck For President or Library Mouse
Color- Blue
Food- Pizza and Chocolate Chip Cookies
Game- War or Battleship

For a while there it felt like every time Jack came home from school it was with a new gap in his mouth where a tooth used to be. He has lost six so far. He's reading now, which seems absolutely incredible. He's like a walking encyclopedia. If he's heard something once, it is stored in his detailed files! In particular, he loves trivia about animals and Star Wars. And that's a little bit about our Jack on his sixth birthday. Happy birthday, buddy!

Table Rock State Park

We went to Table Rock State Park yesterday intending to hike up to the top of the mountain. That didn't happen. It was quite a climb; a climb that had all of our legs screaming when we got out of the car after the drive home. But, it was beautiful and fun to spend time together, and Jack and Luke have the Table Rock stamp on their South Carolina Junior Ranger passport.

Megan and Crew

It was a few days of fun like freeze tag, light saber battles, and hiking when Megan and three of her bridesmaids came for a visit earlier this week. It sure was nice to have some company in the middle of winter. We love you, Meggie!

Luke's First Day of School

Luke started school today. He's been asking and asking if it was time for him to start preschool. I decided it would be good for him to go ahead and start. He will be going three mornings a week. I don't know what I'll do with myself! I do know that I really missed the little fella this morning. He's been my sidekick for a long time.

New Year's Eve

We greeted 2015 by going to a neighborhood party at the fire pit. The kids played hard until the fireworks started at which point Luke told me he was going home and set off. I caught up, but I think he was going whether I caught up or not. John and Jack stayed for the fireworks; these were Jack's first fireworks as he's always thought they were too loud in the past. Probably by next year Luke will think they are fun too, and if he doesn't I hope he'll walk me home again.
